GIVING THANKS

Thanksgiving 2018

Today as fall hits the Northern California area I am expressing my fab five (5) reasons I am thankful this year.

  1. My health. Even though I am coughing and have a runny nose, have been on 7 different antibiotics in the last month, I appreciate the health that I do possess.  I have been very cognizant that life is very short and being grateful for everyday that I can get up and write this blog, believe me, I am thankful!
  2. A 2016 Honda HRV named Bubba. This was a complete miracle.
  3. To have a roof over my head. I live in the State of California where homeless is above the national average. Many of those homeless individuals have a disability. After the age of 18 I have the option to live with family without the threat of being on the street is a privilege.
  4. My living kidney organ donor. A living donor by the first name of Lynette who lives in the California Central Valley area graciously provided a kidney to me in January of 2003. Without Lynette’s complete selfless act I would not be alive today.
  5. Family.Even though my personal life has taken the normal traditional course of leaving the home as my biological family has, I still love them. My mother grew up with 8 brothers and no sisters. When my father left some of my uncles took over the role of father figure and my male role model drastically changed. In addition, a couple of male neighbors filled the parenting figure role.
